Harimau Mati Karena Kanser

Harimau Michael Jackson Mati Karena Kanser

Singa Betina Fafa Derita Kanser
Poor big cat being sedated and given CT scan
Fafa, a 17-year-old lioness, underwent a CT scan at a veterinary clinic in Brazil after suffering seizures and bleeding. When this vet was asked to x-ray a cat, this probably wasn’t what he had in mind. Fafa, a 17-year-old lioness, underwent a CT scan at a veterinary clinic in Brazil after suffering seizures and bleeding. The big cat was sedated and brought to the clinic from Brasilia Zoo, in the country’s capital, where she has lived since birth. Earlier this year, Fafa underwent surgery to remove her uterus and both ovaries. But after persistent ill health, the lioness was given a CT scan to diagnose the source of the problem. During the three-hour-long session, veterinarian John Nardott Ricardo scanned Fafa’s chest, skull and abdomen. He believes that she may have liver damage, which may have been caused by a cancerous tumour the lion had in 2010.  http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/lion-given-ct-scan-in-brasilia-1235206

Fafa, a lioness that is nearly 18-year-old, lies on a CT scan machine at the veterinary clinic in Brasilia August 7, 2012. Fafa has been living in Brasilia Zoo since its birth and had undergone surgery this year to remove both its ovaries and uterus. Fafa was sedated and brought to the veterinary clinic after experiencing seizures and bleeding. According to veterinarian John Nardott Ricardo, the lioness had to undergo a 3-hour-long session of CT scans to its chest, skull and abdomen in order to diagnose the source of its health problems. Nardott believes there is a possibility that Fafa has liver damage, which may have arisen from a cancerous tumour Fafa had in 2010.
Once upon a time, there was Fafá.
A brave lioness, wild by nature, strong and imposing, Fafá was born and raised in the Brasilia Zoo, and she was undoubtedly one of its biggest attractions. The star’s last show, however, was a most unusual scene, inside a CAT scanner. Fafá, nearly 18 years old, had stopped eating, had bleeding nostrils, and suffered seizures, and everyone who cared for her at the zoo became concerned. A complex plan was orchestrated by the zoo to take the lioness to a veterinary clinic. After a heavy dose of sedatives, she was moved from her cage to a litter and transported to the clinic. There were three harrowing hours of scans in the middle of which Fafá suffered cardiac arrest. They scanned her head, thorax and abdomen, and did a rhinoscopy.

Orang Utan pun kena Kanser
According to NBC News, an iPad-savvy orangutan named Peanut was diagnosed recently with cancer. Peanut is a resident of Miami's Jungle Island, a tourist wildlife park. Her caretakers noticed something was wrong with her about two and a half months ago. "We knew something was a little bit off when she wasn't as hungry or as active, and we were hoping it was a cold or virus," said Jungle Island curator Jason Chatfield. Peanut was sent in for surgery, and tissue samples were taken for analysis at the University of Miami. Unfortunately, Peanut was diagnosed with cancer. Chatfield and the rest of the workers at Jungle Island were shocked. A large-cell lymphoma will be treated with chemotherapy at the park. As with humans, hair loss could be a potential side effect. KSEE-TV reports that large-cell lymphoma is usually very treatable in humans, which could be beneficial for Peanut. Dr. Offiong Ikpatt said, "There's no way on Earth I would have known it wasn't from man in the first place. It looks exactly like tissue from human beings." Dr. Joseph Rosenblatt, a lymphoma specialist at UM Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, is helping Peanut with her treatment. She is his first orangutan. "In humans, we can cure 70 to 80 percent of people using a combination of chemotherapy and an antibody called rituximab," said Rosenblatt. He also added that they will be careful while treating Peanut, using lower doses at first. Peanut is one of six orangutans at Jungle Island that know how to use an iPad. All of the six orangutans have become efficient with iPads, using their fingers to play picture games and draw. However, Peanut and her fraternal twin, Pumpkin, have enjoyed it the most. We wish Peanut the very best and hope she responds well to her treatment.

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – One of Jungle Island’s most popular primates, Peanut the orangutan, has been diagnosed with cancer. Peanut, an eight-year-old female, has non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Even though the news came as a surprise to Jungle Island, they have wasted no time putting together a world-class team committed to providing the active ape with the best care possible. Vets found the cancer while performing abdominal surgery to remove what they thought was a simple obstruction. The veterinary staff at Jungle Island turned to the University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine’s Division of Comparative Pathology which confirmed the diagnosis and is providing a wealth of medical information to begin Peanuts battle with cancer. “Peanut is loved by so many people and we consider her part of our family, so we are really hoping that Peanut’s cancer treatment is successful. We just can’t imagine losing her,” said Linda Jacobs, Orangutan Caregiver at Jungle Island. Peanut and her fraternal twin sister Pumpkin have been a part of the Jungle Island family since their birth and are some of the park’s most famous residents. Keep track of Peanut’s health and her treatment progress by clicking here or visiting their Facebook page.
